Hotel review: Bluesun hotel Afrodita (Tučepi, Croatia)

We have passed by Makarska Riviera several times but never found the time so stop there for couple of days and just enjoy what it has to offer. This September we decided to make a long weekend escape from Slovenia, combining some outdoor activities (hiking and bicycling) and catching some vitamin D on the beach. The primary goal was to be located on the beach and close to Biokovo National Park, which was the starting point for the bicycle tour. While I was hesitating between a rich offer of cheaper private apartments and rooms (September is not that crowded anymore), I rather chose a hotel in Tučepi with a higher standard of comfort and fantastic location. Here is my review of Bluesun hotel Afrodita.

Location

Bluesun hotel Afrodita is a 4-star hotel, located in the town of Tučepi, less than 10 km from Makarska town. The hotel is quite easy to find and has a private controlled entrance ramp, so you can park your car safely and free of charge (at least that was the case in September). The complex is located just a few meters from the beach, however the beach itself is separated with a nice promenade.

The hotel

The complex comprises of the main building with a very nice and spacious reception, lounge bar and a restaurant (indoor and outdoor), and a few rows of bungalows, some of them facing the sea side The bungalows are connected with the stone paths, surrounded by trees and green bushes. There is a large swimming pool in front of the hotel with a gorgeous view of Biokovo mountain. Sunbeds and towels are provided for hotel guests free of charge.

The rooms

Bluesun hotel Afrodita has around 150 rooms of different types (standard, superior, junior suites, family rooms), but I would rather call them bungalows, as they have separate entrances. At least ours, which was facing the sea, had one. The room was spacious and the sleeping area was separated from the sofa and TV corner by two stairs which made the room very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small, but had everything we needed. The balcony facing the seaside is very private, surrounded by walls and you can also close the windows from the outside so no one can see you. The seaside view was not that spectacular though – probably higher floors (maybe in family rooms or junior suites) are better off here.

The beach

The hotel is located on the beautiful 4-kilometers long Slatina beach. The sandy beach with crystal clear emerald color of Adriatic Sea has a blue flag which means it is really clean, safe and suitable for all types of swimmers. It has a lot of natural shade from pine trees, a shower and dressing spaces. Unfortunately, there are no free sunbeds for hotel guests, which is a bit awkward, considering the amount of money you pay, but this is Croatia. Overall beach experience in September (again, there were no crowds) was fantastic all the way from the morning swim till the romantic sunset in the evening.

Anda’s rate: 9 from 10

Bottom line: Bluesun hotel Afrodita is a very nice pet-friendly hotel in Tučepi, with a perfect location, fantastic beach and really good services (breakfast and dinner were also very rich). Pet fee is 75 € per stay, which is very pricey if you only come for a day or two. I would say the hotel it is suitable for both, families and couples and one could easily spend a week or even more there.
