Namibia gets under your skin in a way few places do. It’s a surreal landscape of endless horizons, rust-red dunes, and wildlife roaming through ancient deserts. After sorting out the practicalities of our road trip, this Namibia self-drive itinerary is the exact, unfiltered 14-day route we followed from Etosha down to Sossusvlei, with realistic driving times, where we stayed, and the mistakes we’d fix if we did it again.
Namibia had been on my list ever since I saw a surreal photo of dead trees in a white pan, surrounded by orange dunes. It looked like a place that doesn’t exist. Then my dentist mentioned one day that he’d seen lions in Etosha National Park, and the wait was over.
