Shortly after having posted a photo from Maldives on my Instagram profile, I got hundreds of messages from friends and followers. The questions were pretty much the same: “Are you really in Maldives? Where did you fly from? Can you travel to Maldives during Covid-19 pandemics? Did you have any problems on the way?” Followed by typical questions about Maldives vacation: “Which island are you on? How much did you pay?” Since this was a well-deserved yet short winter escape, I didn’t want to spend my week answering all the questions. Hence my response: “After I return, I will write a blog post and tell you everything you need to know.”
Maldives was not planned for this winter, however the covid-19 situation left us with not many safe travel choices. I desperately needed an escape to a tropical climate, even if just for a week, to warm up my bones and recover from all the stress in 2020. I have had my share of Maldives vacations, so I definitely know what to look for when choosing the right island. This time I decided to trust the photos and reviews of Veligandu Island Resort & Spa and go for the water villa. I couldn’t have made a better choice.
Ah, Maldives. What can be written about this tropical paradise that hasn’t already been said? Are words even enough to describe this heaven on Earth? Well, for one thing, every island is unique and a little bit different and each traveler has his own idea of paradise. I have visited Maldives 5 times and since I added this destination to my travel favorites list I will definitely keep coming back. Maldives represent everything that a beach lover wants and needs to recover from everyday stress. If you are asking yourself how much does one week in Maldives cost, when is the best time to visit Maldives, which island should you choose and all the basic information for a hassle free […]
It was a rainy November and shitty December in Slovenia so we made a last-minute decision: we are going to Maldives for Christmas! Because with Maldives you just cannot go wrong. At least if you plan your vacation carefully and read my blog with Maldives travel tips first. 😉 For this time we chose Holiday Island Resort & Spa, mainly because it is a part of Villa Hotels & Resorts group which we already knew from our last Maldives experience. And because it promised all in one: fantastic beach, all-inclusive option, beach bungalows and rather fast connection to the island.
We visited Maldives in combination with India’s Golden Triangle for my birthday in February. Since this was my 3rd time to visit the islands, I knew exactly what I wanted: 1. air transfer to the island, 2. all-inclusive option with Wi-Fi and fitness facilities, 3. private beach villa with sea-view, 4. an island big enough to have a decent walk around it and 5. reef sharks – I am in love with the little beasts. Royal Island Resort & Spa seemed to have it all so I booked a 6 nights vacation through a travel agency which has helped me with my last Maldives booking. If you are going to Maldives for the first time I suggest you read some travel […]
After the destination for our short winter escape was set, I searched for the options which could offer us the best combination of stunning beaches, all-inclusive options and hydroplane transport to the island. For a reasonable price, if that word is even allowed when travelling to Maldives. I hesitated between the Sun Island, Barefoot Eco Hotel and Adaaran Select Meedhupparu. With no doubt in my mind I can say that I made the best possible choice.
