Where to stay in Cape Town if you have 5 days to spend in this gorgeous city? I was struggling with this question for quite a while. I didn’t want to stay in the hustle and bustle of the city center and I didn’t want to stay too far from all the sightseeing spots that were on our bucket list. So, according to the map Hout Bay seemed as the obvious choice. There are quite a few good rated accommodations in Hout Bay so it was quite a challenge to decide which one to pick. Hout & About Guest House had perfect reviews of the rooms, as well as breakfast, which is very important in my survival book. We gave […]
Resort review: Vuyani Tented Camp (Hoedspruit, South Africa)
I took my first safari trip in August 2019 and … well, to cut things short, the rest is history. I fell in love with South African bushes and 6 months later I came back for another adventure. My crush had a lot to do with staying in Vuyani Safari Lodge for the first time so I decided to go for the “safe package” again. Only that this time we took the glamping option in Vuyani Tented Camp, knowing that the service would yet again be impeccable. The only thing I was afraid of was the weather because February falls into the rainy season in South Africa. Well, guess who got lucky again! 😉
Resort Review: Holiday Island Resort & Spa (Dhiffushi island, Maldives)
It was a rainy November and shitty December in Slovenia so we made a last-minute decision: we are going to Maldives for Christmas! Because with Maldives you just cannot go wrong. At least if you plan your vacation carefully and read my blog with Maldives travel tips first. 😉 For this time we chose Holiday Island Resort & Spa, mainly because it is a part of Villa Hotels & Resorts group which we already knew from our last Maldives experience. And because it promised all in one: fantastic beach, all-inclusive option, beach bungalows and rather fast connection to the island.
Hotel Review: The Magnaura Palace Hotel (Istanbul, Turkey)
If you are traveling to Istanbul for the first time you will probably want to stay somewhere in the historical part of the city. While you cannot miss a lot with narrowing down your choice to Sultanahmed area, it is always great to aim for that cherry on the top of the cake. In my case that was the view from the terrace – I wanted the view of Hagia Sophia or the Blue Mosque. And since I stayed in a 3-star hotel in Istanbul a couple of months ago (I wasn’t happy with my choice), I wanted an upgrade this time. The Magnaura Palace hotel reviews promised to deliver it all, so I decided to give it a go.
Hotel review: Bluesun hotel Afrodita (Tučepi, Croatia)
We have passed by Makarska Riviera several times but never found the time so stop there for couple of days and just enjoy what it has to offer. This September we decided to make a long weekend escape from Slovenia, combining some outdoor activities (hiking and bicycling) and catching some vitamin D on the beach. The primary goal was to be located on the beach and close to Biokovo National Park, which was the starting point for the bicycle tour. While I was hesitating between a rich offer of cheaper private apartments and rooms (September is not that crowded anymore), I rather chose a hotel in Tučepi with a higher standard of comfort and fantastic location. Here is my review […]
Resort review: Vuyani Safari Lodge (Hoedspruit, South Africa)
After the decision about safari in South Africa has finally been made, I started harassing different lodges near Kruger National Park with my ultimate question: “Will I see the lions?” While some owners didn’t even bother to respond, the majority of others told me that they couldn’t guarantee lion encounter. The manager from Vuyani Safari Lodge was a bit more specific: “I can’t guarantee you will see lions; however, our guests are usually very lucky.” I already had my eyes on this property due to their good Tripadvisor rating and great sense of humor on their web page and social media accounts. Having discussed the details with Bernard was the ultimate deal breaker, so I booked 5 days in Vuyani […]
Hotel review: Hotel La Grotta (San Marino)
We visited San Marino in the end of April during our Umbria road trip. Hesitating between booking a hotel in San Marino old town – where the offer is limited and the prices are higher – and cheaper options “outside the wall”, we decided to go for the first one. We wanted to enjoy the old town to the fullest, waking up just a step away from what we wanted to see. And have a bottle of wine without arguing who will drive back. Hotel La Grotta seemed a good place to stay in San Marino old town, offering a good combination of what we were looking for: good rates, reasonable price, pets welcome and good breakfast. If you don’t […]
