We fell in love in Makarska Riviera during last September trip and since we are limited with traveling during COVID-19 pandemics we chose to come back this Summer for a short vacation. The “coronavirus” situation in Croatia has forced a lot of hotels to shut down their business (at least temporarily), hence deciding where to stay in Makarska Riviera was rather easy. After narrowing our options to: pet-friendly, close to the beach, close to Makarska old town, free parking, breakfast included, air-condition, free Wi-Fi and excellent ratings, the choice was obvious. We booked Poseidon Mobile Home Resort for 3 nights and we didn’t regret it even for a second.

Location

Poseidon Mobile Home Resort is located in the beginning of Makarska Riviera, around 2.5 km from Makarska old town and you can easily reach the center on foot; it is a nice and cozy walk along the beach, accompanied by hundreds of restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. We took it twice a day, for lunch and for evening drinks. We are walking freaks, so this was actually a plus for us. The location is very well marked and easy to reach, parking is huge and free of charge.

The resort

The resort itself comprises of around 20-something mobile units. Some of the units look like really small mobile homes but with everything you need inside and outside. Others are a bit bigger and designed as small apartments. The resort has a very decent swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas, and 2 separate areas with sunbeds just for the hell of it. Next to the pool there is a restaurant with terrace, which offers pool and (long-distance) sea views. The area is paved, with lots of small gardens and green areas in between, which are very well maintained.

Mobile units (mobile homes)

We stayed in a mobile home for 4 persons, which is I believe the smallest unit, but still it easily fits the whole family. You get 2 separate bedrooms (one queen size and two separate beds), 2 small bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with a table and TV space, as well as a nice terrace with a small table and private sunbeds. I have never stayed in a mobile home before so this was a really nice surprise of how well everything fits into 34 square meters! AC was running smoothly (which was a real plus since the Adriatic sun was already hell hot in June), and Wi-Fi was working well all the time.

Adrion restaurant

The breakfast is served from 8 till 11, and in the times of Covid-19 safety measures it is served by waiters. You get cheese, salami and all those little things you can put on bread. On top of that you can choose between eggs any style, served with tea or coffee and a croissant for a desert. While breakfast is rather basic due to the obvious circumstances, dinner is something else. There are not a lot of dishes on the menu, however each of them is absolutely fantastic. We tried 4 different dishes and all I can say is Compliments to the chef! Actually, Adrion restaurant was the deal-breaker that made us decide we will return to Poseidon Mobile Home resort very soon.

The beach

The beach is “one block” or around 200 meters from the resort – so it is not a “walk in” situation. We knew this from the beginning so we were not too disappointed. However, the beach itself is gorgeous, with lots of trees for natural shade and very spacious. I am not sure it was for the Covid-19 situation or the fact that it was still June, but there were not many people on the beach at all. Which was a total winner for me. On top of that, the sea is crystal clear and being a beach fanatic, I can say that Makarska has one of the best beaches in the Adriatic region.

Pet friendly

Poseidon resort is perfect for our furry friends, as the units are really private and if your dog is well mannered, it won’t be a problem for the neighbors. It is a little challenging having a dog in Makarska though because they are not allowed to go on the beach, but we cheated a little. 😉

Bottom line: Poseidon Mobile Home Resort is a perfect choice for couples who want some privacy, for foodies and active people. With close vicinity of Biokovo Nature Park, it is very good starting point for bikers and hikers. It is hidden away from the hustle and bustle, so you should get a decent sleep even during the peak season. I am giving it a 9 only because one huge hotel is being built right in front of the resort, which blocks the sea-view for the resort guests. On the other hand, you can always take a few steps to the beach to see those perfect Makarska sunsets.
