We visited Rome on the first weekend of November (actually we had 3 whole days and a half), and since this was our first time in the eternal city, we had to focus on seeing only the most famous attractions. Our plan was to visit Colosseum, Vatican City, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona, the Spanish steps and everything else which would come in our way. Unfortunately we didn’t count on the crowds (honestly, I thought the high season would be over) and since we didn’t want to stand in the long lines to visit the most popular places, we changed our strategy to “Que Sera, Sera”. We were blessed with 3 whole days of sun and crystal clear skies, so […]
Day trip to Slovene coast: Piran
If you are visiting Slovenia for only a couple of days, and want to squeeze a coast trip in your tight schedule, you are lucky. First of all, because Slovenia has just 47 km of coastline on the Adriatic Sea and only 3 “major” seaside towns: Koper, Izola, and Piran. And secondly, because the capital Ljubljana is only 100 km away from Koper, so it will take you about one hour to reach your final sea view destination. Day drip to Slovene coast is therefore totally doable, especially if you rent a car and control your own time. Tip: Try to avoid travelling on weekends in the summer season (late June – August), when the highway gets totally jammed. If you […]
5 things to see in Boston, Massachusetts
Being one of the oldest cities in the US and the capital of Massachusetts, Boston is the city of rich history, culture, education and economy, which attracts over 20 million visitors per year. It is one of those cities which you can easily fall in love with – and honestly, I don’t know why I waited so long to finally see it. Located in the North Atlantic Coast, Boston is easily accessible from Europe with direct flights from most bigger Airports (flight back from Boston to Paris takes less than 7 hours) and if you love to travel to the USA as much as I do, I suggest you put it on your “to do” list right away. The easiest […]
5 things to do in Maine, USA
When you browse for things to do in Maine, USA you will see that most of them relate to Acadia National Park. Honestly, I didn’t feel the need to prove the contrary, because our summer road trip schedule was so tight, we didn’t have time to explore the whole state. Acadia National Park lies on the North Atlantic coast, half way between Portland (the capital of Maine) and border with Canada, on Mt Desert Island which you can easily reach by car, taking Bar Harbor Road from Trenton. While I can confirm that Acadia is really beautiful, I also have to warn you that accommodation during July and August (which is considered as high season due to very nice temperatures) […]
Shopping in the USA
My first trip to the USA was to New York, Manhattan, about 15 years ago, when I was accompanying my boyfriend on a short business trip (paying my own plane ticket with a student money may I add). I was so busy being excited to see the Big Apple, I couldn’t even think of planning any tourist activity. Honestly, at that age, all I cared about was to see the Statue of Liberty and to experience the legendary shopping in the USA. Which means to shop until I drop. And, as they say, the rest is history. I have been returning to the States almost every year since then, to different places, and every time I make sure that I come […]
Booking a flight
A lot of people are still wondering whether booking a flight is something they should entrust to a travel agent or do by themselves. I am not here to convince you that only one option is good because it is not. Travel agencies are believed to be a safer option, but then again who will vouch for you if they go bankrupt? This shit happens, you know. Furthermore, the agencies don’t work for free, so be prepared to pay some extra money. At last but not the least, if you are not sure about the destination or the dates of your travel and prefer some flexibility, then perhaps it is better not to waste their time. Eventually they will stop […]
Packing Tips: How To Pack The Right Way
