Did you know that Bergen is the rainiest city in Europe? Having that in mind, we didn\u2019t want to spend too much time getting wet, but we still needed a good base camp to start our Western Norway trip. We landed in Bergen late afternoon and our plan was to drive towards Stavanger first thing in the morning. Moxy Bergen<\/strong> hotel<\/strong> seemed to offer a fair combination of the location, guest rates and reasonable prices. In reality, Moxy Bergen is one of the coolest hotels I\u2019ve stayed at. That\u2019s why we spontaneously decided to spend our last night there as well.<\/p>\n

Location<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Moxy Bergen hotel is located just across the bridge from Bergen city center, which means an easy 15-minute walk. Its scenic waterfront location with stairs that lead directly to the sea, is also tempting for a refreshing swim in the sea. If you dare, of course. It took us around 15 minutes to reach the hotel by car from the airport. Unfortunately, there is no parking on site, but this is a common situation in most Norwegian cities. The hotel staff can advise where to park your car in Bergen, however we used the EasyPark app and found it ourselves. The cheapest parking option was around 2\u20ac per hour, 5 minutes\u2019 walk away.<\/p>\n

Facilities<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Have I mentioned that Moxy Bergen is the coolest place I\u2019ve been to? The ground floor looks like one giant cheeky playground with pink flamingo as the main figure. The reception is basically at the bar, and the bar turns into a breakfast place in the morning. It is hard to describe the coziness of this place, I hope you got the idea from the picture above. I can easily imagine myself renting the place for a birthday party! The hotel also has a small fitness, and a cool \u201cborrow the pink umbrella\u201d system at the lobby. You\u2019ll probably need it. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

Rooms<\/strong><\/h5>\n

First night we stayed in a standard sea view room, which was relatively small but cozy enough to make us feel comfortable. When we returned to the hotel at the end of our trip, we were upgraded to a more spacious room with a hanging chair in the middle. Boy, they found the right person to hang in it! 😉 The bathroom had cool pinkish toiletries, as well as a pink hairdryer\u2026 like I always say: it\u2019s the details that matter! The quality of sleep was good, just a little bit too warm for my taste\u2026 but this was also the case last year in Tromso, so I guess this is just one of those Scandinavian things.<\/p>\n

Breakfast and bar<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Breakfast is self-service and guests were required to wear masks while picking up food. Free masks were also provided, which is a very nice gesture. I loved the bread choices and I am sorry I forgot to ask the staff where they buy it. You can choose from scrambled eggs and sausage, cheese and salami, cereals (the note in healthy corner said \u201cIt\u2019s time to become a cereal killer\u201d), yogurts and fresh fruits. Along with all kinds of coffee and tea, of course. You can also get great Illy coffee at the bar later, sitting inside or out in the hotel terrace.<\/p>\n

Anda\u2019s rate: 9.5 from 10<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bottom line: <\/strong>If you are looking for a place to stay in Bergen for a couple of days and don\u2019t mind the not-so-central location, look no further. Moxy Bergen is the place that will make you feel joyful each time you\u2019ll enter the lobby. I only missed a coffee\/tea maker in the rooms and I would definitely go easier on the central heating system. Hence, 9.5 instead of the perfect 10.<\/p>\n
