Resort Review: Veligandu Island Resort & Spa (Maldives)

Maldives was not planned for this winter, however the covid-19 situation left us with not many safe travel choices. I desperately needed an escape to a tropical climate, even if just for a week, to warm up my bones and recover from all the stress in 2020. I have had my share of Maldives vacations, so I definitely know what to look for when choosing the right island. This time I decided to trust the photos and reviews of Veligandu Island Resort & Spa and go for the water villa. I couldn’t have made a better choice.

Ah, Maldives. What can be written about this tropical paradise that hasn’t already been said? Are words even enough to describe this heaven on Earth? Well, for one thing, every island is unique and a little bit different and each traveler has his own idea of paradise. I have visited Maldives 5 times and since I added this destination to my travel favorites list I will definitely keep coming back. Resort Review: Holiday Island Resort & Spa (Dhiffushi island, Maldives)

It was a rainy November and shitty December in Slovenia so we made a last-minute decision: we are going to Maldives for Christmas! Because with Maldives you just cannot go wrong. At least if you plan your vacation carefully and read my blog with Maldives travel tips first. 😉 For this time we chose Holiday Island Resort & Spa, mainly because it is a part of Villa Hotels & Resorts group which we already knew from our last Maldives experience. And because it promised all in one: fantastic beach, all-inclusive option, beach bungalows and rather fast connection to the island.

Hotel Review: The Magnaura Palace Hotel (Istanbul, Turkey)

If you are traveling to Istanbul for the first time you will probably want to stay somewhere in the historical part of the city. While you cannot miss a lot with narrowing down your choice to Sultanahmed area, it is always great to aim for that cherry on the top of the cake. In my case that was the view from the terrace – I wanted the view of Hagia Sophia or the Blue Mosque. And since I stayed in a 3-star hotel in Istanbul a couple of months ago (I wasn’t happy with my choice), I wanted an upgrade this time. The Magnaura Palace hotel reviews promised to deliver it all, so I decided to give it a go.

Lovely Cambodia

Oh, lovely Cambodia, where do I start? First, I need to say that Cambodia was never on my bucket list. At least until last year when a couple of friends told me about Angkor temples. It took me just a few clicks to realize I needed to see this UNESCO heritage site ASAP. The only question left was: what else to do in Cambodia for one week. Digging deeper for things to do in Cambodia I found a piece of paradise just a short flight away. The island of Koh Rong Sanloem seemed like a perfect choice to escape the European winter and extend Cambodian adventure.

Everything you need to know before you visit Angkor temples

After I found out about Angkor and saw the photos of those gorgeous temples, the decision to visit Cambodia was very easy. The harder part was figuring out the details, such as: how many days I need to visit the temples, what to wear, whether to hire a tour guide or to do it by ourselves… you know, all the basic questions everyone else asks before visiting such a magnificent place for the first time. This is probably one of the reasons you found my post, right? 😉 Lucky for you (and me of course), I did A LOT of homework before fixing our Siem Reap itinerary so now I can give you all the answers on a silver platter. How to get from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong Sanloem

I spent a lot of time figuring out which island of Cambodia to choose for our February vacation and after deciding to go for Koh Rong Sanloem (which is supposed to be quieter and less crowded) I was totally confused about how to get to the island. A lot of blogs, forums and official information from ferry services can be found on this subject, however to manage all the logistics seemed quite a challenge. First of all, you need to decide which ferry service to pick, second you need to know your timings (flight arrivals, departures, time to get to the airport and back etc…) and at last but not the least, you need to book your boat ticket online… […]
