Resort Review: Cinnamon Velifushi (Vaavu Atoll, Maldives)

cinnamon velifushi maldives review

For my 6th visit to Maldives I chose Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa resort due to very good reviews and fantastic photos. However, I wasn’t aware that “one of the largest shallow lagoons in the Maldives” means no swimming during winter. Although the resort facilities, as well as its staff are wonderful, I did come to Maldives to swim. The management of Hakuraa was very helpful with relocating us to their sister island Cinnamon Velifushi. To cut things short, this resort has it all and here is my Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives honest review.

Resort Review: Veligandu Island Resort & Spa (Maldives)

Maldives was not planned for this winter, however the covid-19 situation left us with not many safe travel choices. I desperately needed an escape to a tropical climate, even if just for a week, to warm up my bones and recover from all the stress in 2020. I have had my share of Maldives vacations, so I definitely know what to look for when choosing the right island. This time I decided to trust the photos and reviews of Veligandu Island Resort & Spa and go for the water villa. I couldn’t have made a better choice.

Resort review: Royal Island Resort & Spa (Baa Atoll, Maldives)

We visited Maldives in combination with India’s Golden Triangle for my birthday in February. Since this was my 3rd time visiting the islands, I knew exactly what I wanted: 1. air transfer to the island, 2. an all-inclusive option with Wi-Fi and fitness facilities, 3. private beach villa with sea-view, 4. an island big enough to have a decent walk around it and 5. reef sharks – I am in love with the little beasts. Royal Island Resort & Spa seemed to have it all so I booked a 6-night vacation and here is my honest review. If you are going to Maldives for the first time I suggest you read some travel tips first.

Resort Review: Adaaran Select Meedhupparu (Raa Atoll, Maldives)

After the destination for our short winter escape was set, I searched for the options which could offer us the best combination of stunning beaches, all-inclusive options and hydroplane transport to the island. For a reasonable price, if that word is even allowed when travelling to Maldives. I hesitated between the Sun Island, Barefoot Eco Hotel and Adaaran Select Meedhupparu. With no doubt in my mind I can say that I made the best possible choice.

Hotel review: The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok

Ah, dear Oberoi Lombok, where shall I start? Perhaps with the scent of plumerias in your lush green gardens, which will stay in my memory forever? With the massage, that almost made me fall asleep 3 times in one session? Or with the picture-perfect breakfast setting? No matter where or how I start, the Oberoi Beach Resort Lombok review cannot end with anything other but a perfect 10.

Snorkeling in Maldives: a moment of reflection

This photo is far from my “Instagram standards“, but it will stay in my memory for much longer than many “staged” ones with thousands of likes. It was taken spontaneously, with a phone, just before my last snorkeling in Maldives. And almost as if the photo knew what was coming next, it reflects exactly what I want to tell you in this short post.

Vacation in Maldives during Covid-19 pandemics

Shortly after having posted a photo from Maldives on my Instagram profile, I got hundreds of messages from friends and followers. The questions were pretty much the same: “Are you really in Maldives? Where did you fly from? Can you travel to Maldives during Covid-19 pandemics? Did you have any problems on the way?” Followed by typical questions about Maldives vacation: “Which island are you on? How much did you pay?” Since this was a well-deserved yet short winter escape, I didn’t want to spend my week answering all the questions. Hence my response: “After I return, I will write a blog post and tell you everything you need to know.”
